This print and text I saw at the Norman Rockwell store in Arlington, VT a few weeks ago. I’ve been to the Norman Rockwell Museum in Stockbridge, Massachusetts several times, but I’d never heard this explanation from Rockwell on part of this painting: Because his wife Mary died a year before their grandson was born, he painted them together in this paining, with her holding this grandson – so that through his work they could be together, for once and forever. Brilliant.
