At the Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec artists are reflecting concerns about the environment, like with this piece – Lost in Nature (The Car). Haunting and beautiful.
The description says: “A Mercedes convertible proudly sits on a lawn of small green rods, projecting an idealization of materialism and social success. The industrial manufacturing and luxury cachet of a real car contrasts with the handcrafting and rustic look of this mock replica, made entirely of salvaged barn wood. Non-functional and inapt to demonstrate its owner’s wealth, this symbol of the American Dream takes on a completely different status.”
